Located along the scenic and historic Chattahoochee
River, the Chattahoochee Bend State Park contains rich water resources,
a mix of habitat types including exposed granite, and many significant
archeological features. The four-month planning process involved site
inventory and analysis, community involvement, and coordination with
the Department of Natural Resources (GaDNR) and Coweta County. Key design
elements to be included in the 2,910-acre park design include preservation
of the natural character of Coweta County; creative design solutions;
protection and sensitivity to natural, cultural, and biological resources
(i.e. sensitive habitats, archeological features); linking and interpreting
various points of interest, habitats, and ecosystems; relationship between
design areas and circulation patterns to provide community needs; and
access and connectivity to and through the park.
