The Constitution Lakes Nature Area is a 125-acre site of forest and wetlands. This parcel of land sits outside of the Atlanta city limits and occupies an area surrounded by both residential and light industrial use. Remnants of a brick factory, abandoned in the late 1900s, signal its industrial past.
The Nature Area will be preserved as a natural retreat for residents in the area, as well as a habitat for wildlife. Visitor access to the wetlands and lakes are provided via trails and boardwalks. The boardwalk is supported by helical piers and diamond footers, two low impact structural support systems, to minimize disturbance to the wetlands. Hard surface trails through wooded areas allow for movement of pedestrians and cyclists and protect the forest.
