Ecos was retained by Julian LeCraw to develop a site plan for a 230 unit apartment complex within a very urban setting along Marietta Street (M Street) near the western edge of Georgia Tech. The goal of the project was to enhance an urban streetscape with the buildings pushed up against the right of way line, with broad sidewalks, doorways opening to the street and a mix of residential and retail uses along the street frontage.
The interior of the project contained additional apartment buildings, recreational facilities such as a swimming pool and greenspace. The site sloped down from the street frontage and the grade change was used to break from the ‘urban edge’ to a more ‘suburban interior’ through the use of retaining walls and plaza steps.
The project has helped set the aesthetics for new projects along this rapidly developing corridor in western Atlanta.
